The Israeli military has confirmed it carried out a drone strike on a Hezbollah command site in southern Lebanon, as tensions continue along the border despite an earlier ceasefire agreement.
According to Lebanon's state news agency, Israeli drones fired two missiles at a car in the town of Yater, injuring one person. The Lebanese Health Ministry also confirmed the injury.
The Israeli army said the strike targeted Hezbollah infrastructure and promised to continue operations to eliminate any threats. Hezbollah has not commented on the incident so far.
A US- and French-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah began on November 27, 2024, ending over a year of clashes. However, Israel has continued limited airstrikes, saying they are necessary for its security. It also kept troops in parts of the border region even after the agreed deadline for a full withdrawal, which passed on February 18.
In a separate and more unexpected move, Israel last week launched an airstrike in Doha, the capital of Qatar — a rare attack outside the usual conflict zones.
The strike targeted a building allegedly used by top Hamas officials. Israel said it was aimed at leaders “directly responsible for the October 7 massacre,” referring to a deadly attack last year. A joint statement by the Israeli military and security agency Shin Bet said the operation used accurate weapons and intelligence to avoid civilian casualties.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed Israel acted alone in the Doha strike.
“Israel initiated it, conducted it, and takes full responsibility,” he said in a statement.
Eyewitnesses in Doha reported hearing loud explosions and saw smoke rising over the city, but no casualties were reported at the time.
These latest actions suggest growing regional tensions, with Israel now extending its operations beyond its borders to target groups it sees as direct threats.
