Hyderabad – Police on Monday arrested three goldsmiths for cheating jewellery store owners in the city.

The accused, Abbas Ali Sheikh (46), Razzak Sheikh (23), and Ramij Sheikh (24), are originally from West Bengal but living in Hyderabad. They were involved in three cases registered under Nallakunta, Goshamahal, and Hussaini Alam police limits.

Police said Abbas and Ramij collected raw gold from shops to make ornaments but secretly diverted the finished gold to others. Abbas also used the money to pay salaries and invest in the stone business.

During questioning, the trio admitted they had taken around 614 grams of gold from Shree Tulja Bhavani Jewellers and about 1.29 kg of gold from Sri Durga Bhavani Bullions and other jewellery shops.
