Hyderabad – AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has backed Telangana chief minister A Revanth Reddy’s call for the Centre to compensate the state for a ?7,000 crore revenue loss caused by recent GST rate changes.

In a post on X, Owaisi said the Union government must show its commitment to federal principles by supporting states hit by such fiscal policies. “I fully support Revanth Reddy’s demand, which should be accepted by Prime Minister Modi’s government. This will benefit all states and test whether the Centre truly believes in federalism,” he wrote.

Owaisi also cautioned that Telangana should not be “punished for its growth.” His remarks came after Reddy urged the Centre for support while announcing profit-share bonuses for Singareni Collieries employees. The chief minister warned that the GST changes would seriously impact state revenue and weaken fiscal autonomy.
