In Tamil Nadu, a mother killed her own daughter. She severely punished her for stealing and eventually the daughter succumbed to her injuries. Manimegha and Raja from Perambalur in Tamil Nadu have three children. The Eldest Daughter is Mahalakshmi (10). She would often steal money home and buy and eat with friends without telling her parents. Her parents occasionally reprimanded her. Mother Manimegha used to taunt the daughter whenever she found out. Sometimes she even used to hit her.
On January 6, the kid Mahalakshmi went to the house of a man named Murugan near their house. She took Rs 70 from his shirt pocket which was hung to the hangar. Murgan realized that the money was taken and reported to her mother. Mother Manimegha, who felt that stealing was becoming a habit for Mahalakshmi, felt that she should be severely punished.
Mahalakshmi was brought home , taunted and beaten. the mother forced the child to take steam hot water with chili powder. Mother heated a spoon and burnt the child's lips. With this, Mahalakshmi went into severe illness. The baby's nose and stomach were severely damaged. She could not even eat rice for three days. The baby died Sunday morning while receiving treatment at the hospital. An autopsy was performed Monday on her body. Police said further investigation into the case will continue after the post-mortem report is received.
