Permission Granted for Bull-Fights

Bullfights(Jallikattu) were allowed by the Government of Tamil Nadu. Chief Minister Stalin decided to allow the annual bullfights. However, they want to allow a smaller number of spectators to watch these competitions. The government has taken this decision at a time when southern Tamil Nadu is already gearing up for jallikattu competitions. Jallikattu competitions will start from the 14th of this month in Madurai district of Tamil Nadu.

Jallikattu or Bullfights is a traditional event in which a bull is released into a crowd of people, and multiple human participants attempt to grab the large hump on the bull's back with both arms and hang on to it while the bull attempts to escape. Participants hold the hump for as long as possible, attempting to bring the bull to a stop. In some cases, participants must ride long enough to remove flags on the bull's horns.
