Until recently, however, the vaccine was given only to those over 18 years of age. In view of the increasing number of corona cases, it has been decided to vaccinate teenage children i.e. 15 to 18 year olds as well. The government, which has started registrations from January 1, has started vaccinating from Monday.

The central government has decided to give covaxin vaccine to teenage children as opposed to other vaccines. The DCGI allowed children to be given only covaxin.  In Bihar, however, two children were mistakenly vaccinated with the covishield vaccine instead of the Covaxin vaccine. The mistake that was made was discovered later.

The parents have expressed their grievances over the incident. The parents tried to complain about this. The children were kept under medical observation for several hours. Government assured full treatment to the children in case of any health problem. However, despite the fact that the children were vaccinated against covishield, the vaccine was registered in the corona vaccination certificate.
