Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has urged Railway officials to review survey and alignment proposals for the Hyderabad–Chennai and Hyderabad–Bengaluru high-speed rail projects, keeping them in sync with greenfield highway plans from Future City.

At a meeting with Railway officials on Thursday, the CM assured full government support for quick completion of pending railway projects. He also pressed for approval of a rapid road and rail link between Hyderabad and Amaravati, reminding that such connectivity was promised under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.

Revanth explained that the state has already requested clearance for a 12-lane greenfield highway from Bharat Future City to Bandar Port via Amaravati, with a 300-km alignment proposal prepared. He stressed that a fast rail line along this highway is equally important for growth.

Highlighting the Regional Ring Rail plan, the CM said a 362-km rail and road network would transform Hyderabad into one of the most dynamic cities in India. He asked Railways to take steps to cover industrial areas across the state with better connectivity.

He noted that the state has drawn up plans to build railway lines along the highway and expand the industrial corridor up to 1.5 km on either side. Telangana, he said, is ready to provide funds and acquire land. He underlined that new alignments should be designed to reduce distance, lower costs, and serve both passengers and industries, including tourism.

Pointing to global examples, Revanth said integrated road, rail, and port connectivity is crucial for long-term development.

The CM also called for more railway lines in Telangana, including a new route from Bhupalpally to Warangal and upgrades at Kazipet Junction to meet passenger needs. The meeting further reviewed work on the Vikarabad–Krishna line and the DPR for the Gadwal–Dornakal project.
