A 23-year-old student from Hyderabad, Mohammed Zaid, has died in the United States after being badly injured in a road accident in Connecticut.

Zaid, a resident of Old Malakpet, was studying health professions and clinical science at the University of Bridgeport. Last Saturday, he stepped out to buy groceries when an unknown car hit him on the way.

He was rushed to St. Vincent’s Medical Centre under Hartford HealthCare, where he was kept on a ventilator. For three days, he remained unconscious. Despite efforts, he passed away while receiving treatment. His family in Hyderabad was informed of his death by his friends in the US.

Zaid’s father, Mohd Ismail, said the family is devastated and has appealed for support. They have requested the US Consulate General in Hyderabad to issue an emergency visa so they can travel and complete necessary formalities. They also appealed to the State government to help them during this difficult time.

It is still uncertain whether the consulate will grant the emergency visa. Meanwhile, Zaid’s friends in the US are said to be assisting with arrangements.

The tragic incident has left the family and community in shock, as Zaid had gone abroad to pursue his education and career goals.
