Odisha's COVID-19 positive cases cross 6,000 mark

Bhubaneswar, June 26 (IANS) The number of COVID-19 positive cases in Odisha crossed the 6,000 mark with 218 fresh cases in last 24 hours, said the health department on Friday.

The total confirmed cases in the state now stand at 6180.

Out of the total fresh cases, 198 cases were reported from various quarantine centres and 20 cases are local contacts.

The highest number of cases have been detected from Ganjam (49) district followed by Jagatsinghpur (29), Gajapati (27), Bhadrak (25), Khurda (17), Sundargarh (11), Puri (10), Mayurbhanj (9), Balasore (7), Kendrapada (6), Cuttack (5), Jharsuguda (4), two each of Nuapada, Keonjhar and Sambalpur, and one each of Nabarangpur, Angul, Kandhamal, Jajpur, Boudh and Koraput.

Besides, seven personnel of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), who had returned to the state after cyclone Amphan restoration work in West Bengal, have also tested positive for the virus.

Odisha has now 1,865 active cases with 4,291 recoveries and 17 deaths.
