Kerala sees one Covid death, 130K released from quarantine

Thiruvananthapuram, June 15 (IANS) Kerala Health Minister K.K.Shailaja on Monday said that the death toll in the state on account of Covid-19 had risen to 20 with one more death, while 82 more cases were recorded.

The latest death reported was a capital city resident, who was under treatment for cardiac and breathing issues for long.

He died at his home on Friday and his test result came only on Monday, the Minister said, adding that the last rites would be done according to Covid protocols.

"On Monday, there were 82 new cases which included 49 who came from abroad, 23 were those who reached the state from within the country, while nine were health professionals," said Shailaja.

At present, the state had reported 1,348 positive cases, while 1,174 people have been cured of the disease.

The highlight of the day was that 1,29,971 people were released from 14 days quarantine, while another 1,20,727 people are currently in isolation either at home, or corona care centres and include 2,023 in hospitals.

Five new hotspots were notified, while two were deleted from the list, taking the total number in the state to 125.
