TN CM refutes intensification of lockdown

Chennai, June 12 (IANS) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K. Palaniswami on Friday warned of legal action against those spreading rumours of intensification of lockdown.

Speaking to reporters after releasing water from the Mettur Dam for Kuruvai/short term crop, Palaniswami said rumours are being spread in his name on social media that lockdown will be intensified to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

He said no such orders have been issued by the government and action will be taken against those spreading such rumours.

According to the Chief Minister, reopening of schools will be possible after the spread of coronavirus is controlled.

As on Thursday, the total number of active cases in the state stood at 17,659.
