Hyderabad – Businessman Basharat Ahmed Khan, owner of Car Lounge showroom in Gachibowli, is accused in a Rs 100 crore customs scam involving luxury car imports.

Authorities say Basharat sold high-end cars to former and current ministers from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and Congress. It is not yet clear if the cars were sold at lower prices.

In May 2025, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) arrested Basharat in Ahmedabad after finding that luxury vehicles were imported at about 50% of their actual value through under-invoicing and misdeclaration at Indian ports. The total fraud is estimated at around Rs 100 crore.
