Ayushman Bharat Turns 7: PM Modi Highlights Healthcare Achievements

New Delhi – Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Ayushman Bharat has grown from a promise into a people’s movement for universal health coverage as the scheme completes seven years.

Launched on September 23, 2018, AB PM-JAY is the world’s largest health insurance scheme. It provides ?5 lakh per family per year for hospital care to about 55 crore people, covering 12.37 crore families in India’s economically vulnerable population.

Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda said the scheme has made “tremendous progress” and stressed the need to involve more private hospitals, especially in underserved areas, to improve access and quality of care.

The government aims for a future where every Indian, regardless of income or location, can get high-quality healthcare. Officials say Ayushman Bharat reflects India’s commitment to protecting citizens’ health and will continue to be a symbol of this vision.
