A 22-year-old engineering student, Jadav Sai Teja, was found dead in his hostel room in Hyderabad. He was a second-year student at Siddharth Engineering College.

Police say they are investigating the death as both a suicide and a possible ragging case. Reports allege that seniors beat him, forced him to drink, and demanded money. Teja reportedly recorded a video before his death saying men had threatened and beaten him and were demanding cash. He was also allegedly taken to a bar and made to pay a bill of about ?10,000.

His family and lawyer reached the hostel after travelling about 300 km. Authorities have begun questioning people linked to the case and are probing to find who was involved.
