Actor Vijay Mourns Death of Friend and Comedian Robo Shankar

Popular Tamil actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam leader Vijay expressed deep sorrow over the death of his close friend and fellow actor Robo Shankar, who passed away on Thursday night in Chennai. He was 46.


In a heartfelt message on X, Vijay said he was “shocked and saddened” by the news, praising Shankar’s unique humor and kind nature. He offered his condolences to the actor’s family and prayed for his soul.


Robo Shankar, known for his comic roles in Tamil cinema, had been receiving treatment at GEM Hospital for a serious abdominal condition. The hospital confirmed he was admitted on September 16 in critical condition with severe internal bleeding and organ failure. Despite efforts from doctors, he died at 9:05 PM on September 18.


Shankar is survived by his wife Priyanka and daughter Indraja, who appeared in Vijay’s hit film ‘Bigil’.


Many leaders and celebrities, including Udhayanidhi StalinKamal HaasanDhanushSilambarasan, and Karthi, also mourned his passing.


His body has been placed at his home for fans and well-wishers to pay their respects. Final rites were scheduled for Friday afternoon.
