The Indian government is working to improve nutrition for children, adolescent girls, pregnant women, and new mothers through two key programmes — Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said on Friday.

In a post on social media platform X, the PMO praised an article written by Union Minister Annapurna Devi, where she explained how these programmes are helping tackle malnutrition and promote better health.

The schemes are run by the Ministry of Women and Child Development and aim to build a strong support system using a network of 14 lakh Anganwadi centres, which serve about 10 crore people across the country.

Annapurna Devi highlighted that the goal is to improve nutrition delivery, raise awareness about healthy eating, and strengthen the overall well-being of mothers and children. The ministry is following the principle of “one meal at a time” to create lasting impact.

The programmes not only focus on feeding children, but also work to develop the country’s human capital by promoting long-term health, immunity, and wellness through better food and care.

Poshan 2.0 especially targets issues like nutrient deficiencies, encourages good food habits, and supports sustainable health for the future.

In short, through these schemes, the government is aiming to build a healthier and stronger generation, starting from early childhood and motherhood.
