Pakistan launched their DP World Asia Cup 2025 campaign in perfect fashion, winning their first match of the tournament and their first-ever senior international meeting with Oman by a convincing 93-run margin. After winning the toss and electing to bat, Pakistan set a challenging total of 160 for 7 before bowling Oman out for just 67 in 16.4 overs.

Mohammad Haris produced the standout performance of the game, striking a scintillating 66 from 43 balls with seven fours and three sixes. His aggressive innings provided the backbone of Pakistan’s score and rightly earned him the Player of the Match award. Support came from opener Sahibzada Farhan with a steady 29 and an unbeaten 23 from Fakhar Zaman. Omani spinner Aamir Kaleem returned 3 for 30, while Shah Faisal claimed 3 for 34 to keep the total in check.

In reply, Oman’s chase never gathered momentum. Saim Ayub struck early with 2 for 8, while Faheem Ashraf (2 for 6), Sufiyan Muqeem (2 for 7), Abrar Ahmed (1 for 3) and Shaheen Afridi (1 for 20) combined to dismantle the batting order. Only Hammad Mirza managed a brief resistance with 27.

The commanding win gives Pakistan their first two points and a strong start to the Asia Cup, setting a confident tone for the matches ahead.
