Northern Chinese city of Tianjin is experiencing an Omicron Outbreak. The government ordered a second round of COVID-19 testing on all 14 million residents Wednesday following the discovery of dozens of cases of the Omicron variant, AP reported.

An inflatable Covid-19 testing laboratory that can process about 120,000 samples a day started operation in China’s northern port city of Tianjin on January 11 with the outbreak of omicron.

Millions more are under lockdown in other Chinese cities under a strict zero-COVID strategy, The Wall Street Journal reported.

The restrictions have led to a shutdown at major manufacturers, bottlenecks at ports and a short supply of workers, sparking fears that the disruptions will spread to the global economy, WSJ reported.
