Social pensions in Andhra Pradesh like widowhood, single women, etc. have increased. The state government has issued orders raising the amount from Rs.2,250 to Rs.2,500. The increase is effective from December 2021.
The AP government has announced that the pension will be paid with the increased amount on January 1, 2022. Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Chief Secretary Gopalakrishna Dwivedi gave orders to this effect. The hike reportedly costs the government an additional Rs.129 crore.
