The number of Omicron cases in the country is increasing rapidly. On Monday alone, 135 new cases were reported. Omicron cases have been reported in more than 100 countries around the world. The effect of Omicron is strongest in the UK and US.
An 8-year-old boy in Goa was diagnosed with an Omicron variant. The boy arrived from the UK on December 17. However, he tested negative at the UK airport. The Boy tested positive in India and the samples were then sent for genome sequencing. The boy was diagnosed with Omicron. Tests are currently being performed on the boy's primary contacts. The state government is on high alert as this is the first Omicron case in Goa.
