Crores collected as fine from those violating Covid rules

Omicron cases along with covid cases are on the rise in Delhi. The number of active cases in Delhi has increased at present. With this the protocols there were tightened. It seems that people are just as reckless with the amount of fines levied there.


Central and state governments are trying to curb the spread of the Omicron variant. The number of cases is being met with protocols to prevent an increase. Night curfew is being enforced in some states. Celebrations were banned. Penalties are imposed on those who do not comply with the regulations. Those who violated the rules in Delhi were fined in crores. It also levied higher fines on the 22nd and 23rd of this month, officials there said. Delhi officials said Covid had collected Rs 1.5 crore in fines from those who did not comply with the rules. 

He said 7778 people were caught violating the regulations. All of them are said to have violated Covid rules such as not wearing a mask and not following physical distance. 163 FIRs were registered. Violations are more prevalent in North Delhi and East Delhi. In 11 districts of Delhi, 1245 persons from East Delhi and 1446 persons from North Delhi were fined.

Omicron cases are also on the rise in all states. If Maharashtra ranks first in Omicron cases, Delhi ranks second. With that, strict protocols are being implemented in both the states. Haryana, UP and Karnataka have announced night curfew. A curfew was imposed from 11pm to 5am and restrictions on the number of people attending the ceremony. Only 200 people were required to attend. The number of Omicron cases across the country has risen to 422.
