Sridevi’s sad and sudden demise has left the entire nation numb and much to everyone’s shock, the developments in the case only elevate the shock level. According to recent developments, the Dubai police confirmed the cause of the actress’ death was accidental drowning and not cardiac arrest as reported widely. While the Dubai Forensic Department has ruled out the possibility of foul play thereby confirming that there was no criminal motive behind the death, the Dubai Public Prosecution is not convinced with the theory that the actress lost unconsciousness and drowned in her hotel bathtub. Soon after the Ministry of Health, UAE released Sridevi's forensic report, veteran actress Simi Garewal took to Twitter to express her feelings surrounding the mystery of the Hawa Hawai’s actress’ death. She wrote, “Uncanny similarities in the death of #Sridevi and Whitney Houston.."

For the uninitiated, Whitney Houston had died in her hotel room just before a pre-Grammy party. Her autopsy report had revealed that the singer passed away because of accidental drowning after suffering from a massive cardiac arrest. In Sridevi’s case too while it was earlier reported that she suffered a massive cardiac arrest, yesterday her autopsy reports revealed it was a case of accidental drowning.

In Whitney’s case though, after several investigations, it was later revealed that the actress had traces of alcohol and drugs in her blood. Aside from some shocking details (she wore a wig and dentures, had undergone breast augmentation and had mild emphysema in her lungs from smoking), the key findings had to do with the effects of substance abuse. Toxicology results showed she was acutely intoxicated with cocaine at the time of her death; traces of the drug were found throughout her body, indicating chronic use. Whitney Houston’s case took several years to get solved.

Coming back to Sridevi's sudden demise, the latest reports from Khaleej Times states that, though it is the third day after Sridevi's death, her body is still in Dubai's mortuary. The case has been moved by the Dubai Police to Dubai Public Prosecutor and a clearance is needed before the mortal remains can be taken to the embalming unit in Muhaisna.
