Did you know Sridevi was paid more than Rajinikanth for Moondru Mudichu?

On February 24th, Indian cinema lost one of its most iconic actors – Sridevi. She succumbed to a massive cardiac arrest on Saturday evening. Her untimely demise has come left the industry and fans shaken. Nobody can come to terms with the shocking truth that the Hawa Hawai sensation is no more. 2018 would have marked her 50th year in the industry. All of 54, the actress began her journey at the age of four. Her first film titled, Thunaivan had her playing Lord Murugan. She excelled as a Child artist in several other movies – Nam Naadu,  Poompatta, Kandan Karunai  to name a few. In 1976, she entered the industry as a lead heroine in K Balachander’s film – Moondru Mudichu. The film starred Kamal haasan who was a known star by then and Rajinikanth who was a newcomer like her. But did you know that despite Sridevi being a newcomer, she was paid more than Rajinikanth?

When the actress had appeared on the Tamil remake of Kaun Banega Crorepati, hosted by Prakash Raj, she was asked her experience on working with two stalwarts. She recalled being very nervous about shooting with the two. She also recalled a funny incident when she mouthed a wrong dialogue that left everyone in splits. That’s when she also revealed that her salary Rs 5000, while Rajinikanth was Rs 2000 and Kamal Haasan was Rs 30,000! She also mentioned that her mother loved Rajinikanth and considered him like a son. She herself mentioned that he was very kind and humble and didn’t liek to see anybody troubled. He wanted everyone to be happy.

On hearing the news, Rajinikanth expressed shock and sadness over death – “I’m shocked and very disturbed. I’ve lost a dear friend and the industry has lost a true legend. My heart goes out to her family and friends. I feel the pain with them #RIPSridev … you will be missed.” The actor is already in Mumbai to attend the Funeral The last rites will take place at Hans Crematorium.
