Diljit Dosanjh is the perfect choice to essay the life of legendary Indian Hockey Player, Sandeep Singh onscreen. Just yesterday the makers had released a teaser poster with half face of Diljit merging perfectly with half face of Sandeep, to give us an idea of what an apt choice he is for this one of a kind biopic in the offering and we finally have the first poster of this film, now titled ‘Soorma’. Look at the intensity with which Diljit has slipped into his character. Damn, the fire in his eyes and that hunger with which he is raging ahead to achieve something big holding that hockey stick is in his hand is enough to narrate a success story.
Sandeep who had a testing time when he was forced to stop playing, due to his leg injury. On 22 August 2006, Singh was seriously injured after being hit by an accidental gunshot in Shatabadi train, while on his way to join the national team due to leave for the World Cup in Germany two days later. He was almost paralysed and on wheel chair for two years of his life. But like they say, legends never give up, Singh not only recovered from that serious injury, but also established himself again in the team.
Indeed, it would be one interesting real-life story to watch on screen. Directed by Shaad Ali, Soorma also stars Taapsee Pannu essaying the role of the influential woman who always stood by Sandeep and ensured to keep him motivated throughout his journey.
