Chennai: Filmmaker Kamal Haasan has expressed his dissatisfaction over the 28 per cent GST tax liability. If GST does not cut tax on films, I will have to drop out of the film industry. His participation in the press conference held at the Film Chamber of Chennai on this issue was blamed on the government's decision.

"We will welcome the GST system. But for regional films and international films, the same taxation is not correct. Regional and small cinemas are the strength of the country cinema. If the higher taxes are imposed, the industry will lose. I do not agree with this policy. If I did not cut the GST rate to 12 or 15 percent then I would get away from films. I am not a government spokesperson .. I work for the film industry, "Kamal Hassan said. Heavy taxes on small films .. Is this an East India Company? And questioned the government.

The GST, which has been presented to the Central Government, has come up with a single tax policy since July 1. Under this procedure, there are 5,12,18,28 arrays of goods and services tax. The tax slabs will be set up today for key sectors of the government, which have already allotted taxes for many sectors.
