Former beauty pageant winner Manasvi Mamgai, best known for her appearance in Ajay Devgn-starrer Action Jackson (2014), claims to have played a key role in Donald Trump's Presidential campaign. The actress even landed herself a half-hour performance at the Prez's pre-inaugural ceremony.
For someone who has faith in Trump's ideologies despite the furore over his extremist viewpoints, the Kansas shooting last week came as a shock. A 34-year-old Indian techie, Srinivas Kuchibhotla, was shot dead in the suspected hate crime; his friend, Alok Masadani sustained injuries. Manasvi, who is also the brand ambassador of Republican Hindu Coalition (RHC), an organisation working towards protecting the interests of Hindus in America, has now taken it upon herself to address safety concerns of Indians in the US.
Speaking to mid-day, Manasvi says, "I thought it's necessary to highlight racial abuse faced by Indians in America and so, along with RHC co-chair Newt Gingrich, I reached out to Sarah Sanders, deputy director of Communications, White House. We hope to address the raging concerns of all Indians in the US."
Though Trump addressed the issue of racial crimes at the joint session of Congress, Manasvi is keen to connect with the Prez to discuss ways to curb hate crimes. A meeting is reportedly scheduled next week. "I know he loves Hindus, Indians and India. He wants prosperity and security for all, regardless of race, religion, colour, creed and social status."
