Hero Surya, who chooses different stories from time to time, appears as a lawyer in his latest movie "Jai Bhim".TJ. Gnanavel directed the film.

The film is based on the life of Rajanna (Manikandan) and Chinnathalli (Lijomol Jose), a tribal couple. Rajanna, his wife and family members are subjected to torture by the police for allegedly robbing a rich man's house. Rajanna goes missing. Will the police start a new drama about Rajanna escaping from jail ?  The story is about how Chinnathalli approaches the honest lawyer Chandru (Suriya) to track down her husband and how Chandru solves the case.

Plus points: Surya's acting is the main strength of this film. Suriya as Lawyer Chandru gave a dynamic realistic performance. However, from the beginning to the end of the film, Suriya showed good emotions without overdoing it anywhere. Lijomol Jose, who plays a tribal woman, has impressed with her character. The approach that showed her struggling as a helpless pregnant woman for her husband was great. In the same way, Manikandan played the role of Rajanna. The way he presents pain in all the investigation scenes looks realistic. Rao Ramesh appeared as a government lawyer and played a very powerful role. He spoke confidently and gave a tough competition to SurIya. All the court hall scenes were shown to be very gripping. The rest of the cast is Tamil but gave a very realistic performance.

Minus points: There are similarities between Jai Bhim's first half AND award winning Tamil film 'Visaranai'. The investigation scenes feel the same. The movie takes some time to get into the main plot. The movie is very serious. The movie seemed a bit lengthy, and it would have been nice if some unnecessary scenes had been cut in the first half.

Film production values are very realistic. The entire court hall is magnificent with a huge set laid out in Chennai. The camera work and the tribal cast are very nicely presented. The music and background music provided by Sean Roldan are awesome. Telugu dubbing is also good. When it comes to director Gnanavel, the film is a wonderful screenplay. The highlight is the way Lawyer adapts the screenplay with a gripping narration, taking Chandru's real life story and showing one of his best cases on screen. The suffering of the tribal couple was presented in a mind-boggling way.

Suriya, who appeared as a lawyer in the film 'Jai Bheem' based on a real incident which took place in 1995, has really impressed with the way justice is done to a tribal woman who has been wronged. It takes some time to get into the main story, but even without the commercial elements, the audience feel interested in the film until the very end. For those who want good serious films through OTT, this film is the best choice.

Rating: 3.5 / 5.
