Deepika Padukone speaks up against the disturbing incident

On February 17th, the Malayalam industry woke up to a shock when it was learnt that a leading Malayalam actress was abducted and molested in her own car. Her driver and few other men had hatched the plan. She was on her way to Kochin from Trichur when her car got hit by a tempo, after which few men got in and molested her, took pictures of her. They drove around for two hours after which she was dropped off. The intention was to blackmail her but she didn’t give in and filed a complaint against them. Everyone has lauded the actress for her courage and for speaking up against this disturbing incident. Right from Prithviraj to Mohanlal to Dulquer to Nivin pauly to Manju Warrier to Reema Kallingal have spoken up against this shocking incident. Even Bollywood actors Arjun Kpaoor, Varun Dhawan, Farhan Akhtar, Shraddha Kapoor have spoken up. 

” It scares me as a human being. I am not thinking, ‘oh, she is an actor, a businesswoman or a cricketer’. I am just thinking of her and what she might have had to go through. Again, it’s similar to the Bangalore molestation incident (on New Year’s Eve), and I strongly feel [upset] that people get away with these things time and again. Nothing is going to change if the laws don’t get stricter as far as punishment is concerned. Sometimes, it’s scary how people get away. How many more incidents like these do we need for someone to wake up and realise that we need to do something? And there’s not just physical abuse but much more that needs to be addressed.

As of now, the main accused Pulsar Sunil, an accomplice and another suspect have been arrested with respect to the case. Speculations have been rife that this is a job of an insider, considering someone from the actress’ sets leaked her itinerary details. Also reports suggest, an actor-producer is involved in this case. earl;ier fingers were pointed at Dileep, but recently, the actor slammed all actor reports.
