Aishwarya Rai to receive the Meryl Streep Award; Abhishek Bachchan can't contain his excitement

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has another honour to her name as she will be the inaugural recipient of the Meryl Streep Award for Excellence at the first Women in Film and Television (WIFT) India Awards, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The award is bestowed upon the best female talents from the world of Bollywood and Hollywood. Abhishek Bachchan took to Twitter to tweet about Aishwarya's achievement and posted clapping emoticons as he could not contain his excitement and happiness for the Mrs.

In a statement, WIFT India shared that Aishwarya is receiving the award for showcasing a "distinction in her craft and for expanding the role of women within the entertainment industry. Whether it is her extraordinary body of work or her charitable endeavors, Ms. Streep is an inspiration for all," and added, "Our aim here is to encourage others to think outside the norm of gender-based hiring practices and give females of all nationalities an equal chance to vie in fields dominated by men."
