Kareena Kapoor Khan has finally agreed to star in Salute, a biopic on astronaut Rakesh Sharma, reports Deccan Chronicle. Salute reportedly casts Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role as the makers approached the 52-year-old actor after Aamir Khan apparently refused to do it. Before Kareena, Salute was reportedly offered to Priyanka Chopra but she walked out of the project soon after. Kareena in fact, was asked about Salute on several occasions but she refrained from responding to the question.

Sources, however, told Deccan Chronicle that Kareena has taken up the deal. Rakesh Sharma is the first Indian to travel into space. His biopic will be made by Mahesh Mathai and is expected to begin filming by the end of this year. Sources also told Deccan Chronicle that Kareena has signed Raj Mehta’s film for Karan Johar and will star opposite Akshay Kumar in it.  “Akshay Kumar has been roped in for the film opposite her and it is an entertainer. So Kareena has two films in hand after the successful opening of Veere Di Wedding,” Deccan Chronicle quoted a source as saying. Kareena Kapoor Khan is currently basking in the glory of the success of her comeback film Veere Di Wedding, co-starring Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania. Within two days of its release, Veere Di Wedding earned over Rs 20 crore at the box-office.
