Facebook provides funding to support more causes

San Francisco, May 25: Allowing more people to raise funds for their friends and the needy, Facebook has expanded by adding personal fundraising community and sporting categories. "We are giving people another way to mobilise around causes they care about by expanding personal fundraisers to everyone over 18 in the US and by adding two new categories -- community and sports," said Naomi Gleit, VP (Social Good) Facebook, on Wednesday. Personal fundraisers allow people to raise money for a friend, themselves or a sick pet directly on Facebook. 

Users can raise funds for categories like education, medical, pet medical, crisis relief, personal emergency, funeral and loss, sports and community, such as neighbourhood services, community improvements or environmental improvements. Users can learn about the person who created the fundraiser and the person benefiting from it. The social media giant started testing individual fund collectors in March and was inspired by the response they created from then on. On Facebook, users can click on the Facebook icon menu and go to facebook.com/fundraisers to select the "Fundraising" option or the option on the desktop.
