Imphal, May 21: Japanese ambassador to India Kenzhi Hiramatsu said the Japanese war museum would be built at the Myambam Lokapa Ching in Manipur Bishanpur district. Maibam Lokpa Ching is a historical place where the British and the Japanese fought during the Second World War. About 70,000 Japanese soldiers laid down their lives in the Imphal and Kohima battles, which are regarded as the fiercest, from March to June 1944.

Welcoming the plan, Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said, "Many of the Japanese who came and fought in Imphal and Kohima could not return home. The government shall extend all possible help to Japan in this regard."

The Japanese ambassador urged the public to identify the bodies of some 70,000 Japanese people in Imphal and Nagaland. In the past, some bones were restored to the soldiers to perform the last rituals. However, Hiramatsu seems to be much more visible. He announced that a seminar will be conducted in November for Indian students who want to study in Japan. "The Japanese government invites 25 people to visit Japan from Manipur and Nagaland, "Hiramatsu said. On special occasions, Japanese relatives died during the war and came to Manipur to commemorate their loved ones.
