BJP lost by less than 2,000 votes in just 2 Delhi seats

New Delhi, Feb 13 (IANS) Following its rout in Delhi, BJP supporters and "digital warriors" as Amit Shah calls them, claimed the margin of loss was less than 2,000 votes in a series of seats. Some in fact, gave specific numbers to make it believable -- 36 seats where they claimed BJP lost by less than a margin of 2,000 votes.

The claim started to gain traction on not just Twitter but other social media platforms like Facebook and even Instagram stories, as well. Often, SMS messages were repeated in its entirety.

But, needless to say, it's a false claim. Its neither "more than 20", nor "36" seats where the BJP's margin of loss was less than 2,000. The answer is a simple two seats where the saffron party's margin of loss was less than 2,000 votes.

According to data provided by the Election Commission, Bijwasan and Adarsh Nagar are the two concerned seats. In Bijwasan, BJP's Sat Prakash Rana lost with a margin of 753 votes. Again, BJP's Raj Kumar Bhatia lost from Adarsh Nagar constituency with a margin of 1,589 votes, which is again less than 2,000 votes.
