Ghaziabad, July 22 (IANS) Three police officers in Ghaziabad were suspended on Monday after an FIR was lodged against them for trying to extort money from a railway contractor.

IANS had earlier reported on how then Station House Officer (SHO) Sanjay Pandey and his deputies Aniruddh and Sachin, posted at Sihani Gate police station, ordered the Ghaziabad-based Tushar Goel to pay Rs 2 lakh to free him after one of his cheques bounced.

Goel was allowed to go to bring the money but he instead approached the Anti-Corruption Court in Meerut, which on Thursday directed the police to register an FIR against the officials. Senior Superitendent of Police Sudhir Kumar Singh suspended them.

Goel told the court that Pandey, Aniruddh and Sachin raided his house at midnight where they humiliated his parents and wife.

They then took him to the police station and demanded Rs 2 lakh to free him.

The Anti-Corruption Court ordered an FIR against the officials and has sought a report in the case.
