President's Estate school to become Kendriya Vidyalaya

New Delhi, June 24 (IANS) The Delhi government on Monday gave its nod to the Centre's request to convert the state's government school at in the Presidential estate into a Kendriya Vidyalaya.

It is the same school where then President Pranab Mukherjee appeared as a teacher on Teacher's Day for two consecutive years on the request of Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia.

The Dr. Rajendra Prasad Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, running inside the Presidential Estate, was set-up in 1946 by the then Education Department of the Central government.

In 1962, the school's administration of the school was handed over to Delhi's Directorate of Education.
