ONGC's Q3 net profit at Rs 8,263 cr soars 65%

Mumbai  State-run explorer Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) on Thursday reported a massive 65 per cent jump in net profit for the third quarter ending December at Rs 8,263 crore, buoyed by higher revenues.

The country's biggest hydrocarbons explorer said in a regulatory filing that it had posted a profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 5,015 crore in the corresponding period of the last fiscal.

Its revenue from operations during the period in consideration rose by over 20 per cent to Rs 27,694 crore, compared to Rs 22,996 crore in the same period of the last fiscal.

ONGC's total income during October-December stood at Rs 29,918.71 crore, rising from Rs 24,174.94 crore in the year-ago period.

The company also declared an interim dividend of Rs 5.25 per equity share of Rs 5. 

The ONGC stock closed on Thursday at Rs 132.10 apiece, down 1.12 per cent on its previous close of 133.60 on the BSE.
