At least seven people were killed and 43 others injured on Thursday when a high-speed train collided with a locomotive in Turkey's capital city of Ankara.

The accident occurred at around 6.30 a.m., at the Marsandiz railway station, around 8 km from Ankara's main station, the BBC reported

The train was going from Ankara to the city of Konya.

Images from the scene showed emergency services working to rescue people from badly damaged carriages.
