Uganda beats South Africa 44-43 to win World University Netball C'ship

Kampala (Uganda)   :  Uganda were crowned the 2018 FISU World University netball champions after beating South Africa 44-43 in the final.

Going into the final, the two teams where unbeaten after the round robin games played between seven teams.

In the final round robin game played earlier in the day before the final, South Africa and Uganda tied 42-42 to make it to the final on Saturday, reports Xinhua news agency.

The two teams tied 10-10 after the first quarter before South Africa took the lead 25-12 at half time.

South Africa playing a physical and quick passing game took a 33-30 lead in the third quarter before Uganda's team fought back in the last quarter to win 44-43.

England won the inaugural event held in Cape Town, South Africa in 2012, while South Africa became champions in 2016 when the event was held in Miami, United States.
