Bihar's Chief minister Nitish Kumar got a invitation from RJD chief Lalu Prasad's family for wedding of his son Tej Pratap Yadav and Aishwarya Rai with the groom's sister and the bride's father seeking his presence at the ceremony to bless the couple on May 12.

On Saturday, Aishwarya's father and former minister Chandrika Rai visited 1, Aney Marg to extend a personal invitation to Kumar with the request for gracing the occasion. Rajya Sabha MP and eldest daughter of RJD president Misa Bharti also met the CM requesting his presence.

The invitation card for the Bihar CM is among the first few cards that have started to be distributed by the family elders inviting bigwigs and dignitaries to the function marking the start of matrimonial relation between the two political families of the state. Aishwarya is the granddaughter of former CM Daroga Prasad Rai.

Rai said that the CM has accepted his request and assured his presence for blessing the couple. Bharti also confirmed the same.

"We have also invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He is the premier of the country. It is necessary," she said, adding all members of the state legislature, MPS and ministers have been invited, besides Sonia Gandhi, who is like "a family member for us".

Incidentally, the PM had noticed Tej Pratap's flute playing skills and acknowledged it during his visit to the state capital for attending Prakash Parv function commemorating the 350th birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singhji.

While Rai said that he would visit deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi shortly, Bharti said that Tej Pratap would be meeting him to extend the invitation personally. Tej Pratap had created a flutter earlier when he threatened to 'barge' in the marriage ceremony function of Sushil Modi's son and create a ruckus. He, however, withdrew his threat.

The would-be groom also went to former CM Jitan Ram Manjhi's place to invite him for attending his marriage ceremony. "I wish to start the new innings of my life with the blessings of all elders," he tweeted.

But, as things stand of now, anything to do with Lalu family has a political colour to it.

JD(U) MLC and spokesman Neeraj Kumar has put a condition for attending the marriage function of the former health minister, asking him to declare that he was tying nuptial knot with the bride without any dowry consideration and the ceremony would be sans pomp and show.

Agriculture minister Prem Kumar of the BJP also joined the chorus.Incidentally, the invitation card does not mention a 'tilak' function.
