Mamata to be conferred D.Litt by Calcutta University
Kolkata, Oct 25 (IANS) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will be conferred D.Litt (honoris causa) by the Calcutta University, it was announced here on Wednesday.
"The Calcutta University has decided to honour Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee with D.Litt on January 11 for her contribution to industrial, literary and social sector," said Vice Chancellor Sonali Chakravarti Banerjee.
The honourary event would be held in Kolkata's Najrul Mancha.
The VC said the decision was taken after the meeting of Calcutta University's Senate-Syndicate on Wednesday.
