Kejriwal Questions PM Modi’s Call for Swadeshi, Points to Foreign Goods He Uses
AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal on Monday mocked Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal for citizens to use Swadeshi products, asking if the Prime Minister himself would give up foreign-made items.
In a post on X, Kejriwal wrote: “PM ji, you want people to use Swadeshi. Will you give up the foreign plane you travel in every day? Will you stop using foreign goods yourself?” He also questioned why American companies still operate freely in India despite Donald Trump’s repeated criticism of the country. “People expect action, not sermons,” he said.
AAP MP Sanjay Singh also hit out at Modi, accusing him of hypocrisy. He said the Prime Minister uses Italian glasses, a Swiss watch, an American phone, and German cars, while urging the public to avoid foreign products.
The remarks came a day after PM Modi, in his national address, urged citizens to support Swadeshi and make every home and shop a symbol of Made in India. His message was linked to the rollout of revised GST reforms, which began on September 22, the first day of Shardiya Navaratri.
