Suresh Gopi Faces Backlash Again for Telling Woman to Approach Kerala Govt Over Lost Savings

Union Minister and BJP MP Suresh Gopi is facing new criticism in Kerala after a video surfaced showing him telling a woman to approach the state government for help with her lost savings.

During a public event in Thrissur, a woman named Anandavalli told Gopi that she had deposited money in the Karuvannur Cooperative Bank, which is now in crisis. She said she sold her land to put the money in the bank and is now unable to withdraw it.

Before she could fully explain, Gopi cut her off and said she should speak to Kerala’s Chief Minister or Higher Education Minister R. Bindu, who is also from Thrissur. He made it clear that it wasn’t his responsibility.

The Minister’s tone and refusal to help upset many people, and the clip quickly spread on social media, sparking strong reactions.

Not the First Time

This is the second time in a short span that Suresh Gopi has been criticized for how he handles requests from the public.

Just a few days ago, an elderly man named Kochu Velayudhan approached him in Kodungalloor, asking for help to fix the collapsed roof of his home. Gopi returned the letter without reading it and said that such issues were “not an MP’s job.”

After public backlash, Gopi admitted that response was a mistake. He said, “Some mistakes cannot put out this fire. But I will still work within the powers I have. I will help people, no matter who is unhappy about it.”

However, his latest interaction with Anandavalli has once again renewed controversy about the actor-turned-politician’s attitude toward the people who voted for him.

Many critics say that as an elected MP and Union Minister, Gopi should listen with empathy — even if he cannot solve every issue directly.
