Chess : Laxman clinches National Blitz Championship
Kolkata, Aug 4 (IANS) In the National Blitz Chess Championship title Indian Grandmaster R.R. Laxman clinched with a 10 out of 11 scorecard here on Friday.
Both Laxman and international Master P. Karthikeyan were vying for the championship crown and both of them won the last round.
But, Laxman claimed the top spot as he was 0.5 points ahead of Karthikeyan.
Being the top seed of the event he was beaten by a lower seeded player in the initial rounds but held his nerves and emerged champion after winning against experts of Blitz format.
Meanwhile, National under-25 runner-up FM Mitrabha Guha booked the second Runner-up berth after defeating three International Masters.
