The Tamil Nadu government has decided to lock down the state for a whole day. It is learned that the Tamil Nadu government has decided to implement a complete lockdown across the state on Sunday as corona cases are on the rise.
A complete lockdown is being implemented across Tamil Nadu on Sunday on government orders. Nothing is allowed except emergency services. Mega vaccine camps are being held on Saturday instead of Sunday in the wake of the lockdown.
Police have warned that strict action will be taken if anyone violates the lockdown sanctions. Police have set up special checkposts across the state to check vehicles plying on major roads. These are being set up at the state and district borders and vehicles are being inspected.
Emergency, drug stores, petrol banks are operating. Only licensed vehicles, ambulances, milk vans, newspaper vehicles, fuel tankers, essential freight lorries, buses, railway stations and airports are allowed.
All markets were jammed on Saturday as the government announced it would implement a full lockdown on Sunday. Especially the curry shops, fruit, fish and meat shops were overcrowded. Large crowds flocked to Coimbatore Market, Kasimedu Fish Market, Chintadri Peta and Pattinapakkam Fish Markets.
In the last 24 hours, 10,971 corona cases were reported in Tamil Nadu. In Chennai alone, 5,091 new cases were reported. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has called on the people to be vaccinated and adhere to the Covid-19 protocols in the face of increasing corona outbreaks.
