Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made a key call to small farmers across the country on the eve of the new year. He said that all of them should form agricultural productive associations and increase bargaining power. The land is like our mother, if not protected it becomes a wasteland.
He suggested that all farmers should move towards natural farming which is in demand. He suggested adopting modernity to the traditional approaches that have been coming for many generations. Modi was speaking after depositing cash in farmers' accounts under the 10th tranche of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi.
Modi said that the role of agricultural associations in consolidating the energy capabilities of small and marginal farmers was immense and it had many benefits. They want to increase their bargaining power by uniting farmers. If farmers farm alone, they will have to buy fertilizers and seeds at retail. It increases investment and reduces profits.
The farmers can form agricultural production associations so that they can buy fertilizers and seeds wholesale and sell their produce at retail. In this order new ideas arise. He said to gain the strength to overcome challenges. As a result they are able to understand the demand and cultivate favorable crops.
