Trump threatened to sue to block Twitter users

New York, June 9: A group of lawyers in the United States threatened legal action to block customers in his Twitter account against Donald Trump, claiming that the president's action was violating the first amendment to the US Constitution. Attorneys from Columbia University's Nightfirst Amendment Institute wrote a letter to Tremp for two Twitter users. The two were blocked for a week after the mocking of the president. Vox.com reported. They argued that Trump's Twitter account was a public forum, and banning users from viewing or engaging with his tweets based on their viewpoints suppresses free speech guaranteed by the First Amendment.

"The president should not be allowed to boycott opinions from public lectures because he recognized them as objectionable," explained Jameel Jaffer, Executive Director, Knight First Amendment Institute. The group suggested a March edict of the Federal Court ruling the first amendment to Loudoun County in Virginia, the Office of the Attorney created a Facebook page discussing legal issues. Once the page was opened up for public discussion, the court said, it could not arbitrarily exclude some citizens from participating in the conversation.

But experts do not agree on the outcome as this expert examines new legal waters with the application of the first amendment to online forums. Trump has an array of possible defences against this possible lawsuit centering on the argument that the Twitter account used to block users is used in his personal capacity, some legal experts have argued. "My sense is that the @
Trump-the-Man's RealDonald Trump account through Trump from government time and government property, It was not before (his election), and Trump-the-President. His decisions about that account were not restricted by the first amendment," Eugene Volokh, Professor of Law at University of California, Los Angeles, School of Law was quoted as saying. Another added protection by experts is that the black feature on Twitter does not affect the user's ability to access the trump's Twitter feed, as they have to do it from access to their restricted account.
