industries Minister K T Rama Rao on Saturday urged the Centre to consider the just
demands of Telangana government and establish a steel plant at Bayyaram in the State
as promised under AP Reorganisation Act. He expressed anguish over the Centre for not
responding to repeated pleas from the State government, during a meeting with Union
Mines department Secretary Arun Kumar who called on the Minister here on Saturday.

The Minister pointed out that during the 60-year-old rule in undivided Andhra Pradesh,
injustice was done to Telangana in various sectors and even after the State bifurcation,
the Centre has failed to do justice to Telangana as per the promises made under AP
Reorganisation Act.
“Previously, the Central government had established a steel plant in Vizag which does not
have any iron ore reserves nearby, but it is now delaying establishment of a steel plant in
Bayyaram which has rich iron ore reserves. Our pleas for steel plant to several Union
Ministers also fell on deaf ears,” he expressed his anguish.
